The legendary Presto FryDaddy Deep fryer is an extremely simple deep fryer but that is perhaps its main strength. There are no control panels and other fancy electrical components that can fail and cause a huge increase in the price of the unit. Instead you get a highly efficient frying bucket with no temperature gauge – the fryer automatically maintains the perfect frying temperature. It also has no basket, you just use a slotted scoop to lift the food out; this will clearly save time when cleaning the unit. The interior of the fryer is non-stick which, again, will help greatly in clean up. This is a basic, very cheap fryer that does exactly what it says on the box.

“I love my Fry Daddy. My husband and I received it as a gift for our wedding 7 years ago and it is still as good as the day we got it. I love the easy storage and the frying quality. We have fried everything from chicken cutlets, to wings, to fried zucchini and everything comes out perfect. The only caution we have is that the outside does get a bit hot and can stay pretty warm for some time so be careful even after you pull the plug.”

Presto GranPappy Electric Deep Fryer
The GranPappy Deep Fryer holds up to six cups of oil or three pounds of shortening, and it can accommodate up to six servings of food at a time. The internal thermostat keeps the oil at the optimum frying temperature. An accompanying scoop, slotted for draining, is for lifting food in and out or for turning food halfway through the cooking time. The power cord has a magnetic safety connection, so that if the unit is jostled during cooking, the cord will disconnect, shutting power off immediately. After straining the used oil, it can be poured back into the unit and stored, covered by the accompanying snap-on plastic lid.

“This is a great little fryer. It cooks enough for 2 servings at a time, do not overload. It has a nice list of features. The basket is very handy, the temperature guage and ready light work well and the lid with vents and a filter help reduce the grease smell in your house. Some foods with a lot of moisture will not fry well with the lid closed and even with the lid closed you will not eliminate the odor completely.”
